Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts (LCPA) serves three primary roles: it is the world’s leading presenter of superb artistic programming, is a national leader in arts education and community relations, and functions as the manager of the Lincoln Center campus. LCPA presents over 350 performances annually throughout our different performance series including American Songbook, Great Performers, Live from Lincoln Center, Mostly Mozart Festival, Midsummer Night Swing, Lincoln Center Out of Doors and White Light Festival.
In addition, LCPA supports an array of programs for Lincoln Center Education including its community and family programming. Further, LCPA supports initiatives related to events at the David Rubenstein Atrium, LC Kids, as well as numerous key institutional initiatives and projects.
The Planning and Development team works to galvanize financial support for Lincoln Center’s programming and initiatives, garnering contributions from generous individuals, foundations, corporations and government entities in order to support Lincoln Center’s mission.
Working as part of a team tasked with diversifying funding sources, the Director, Planned Giving will play a critical role in the Planning and Development team and will report directly to the Executive Vice President, Planning and Development. The Director, Planned Giving will be charged with expanding, managing, and refining Lincoln Center’s planned giving program, The Bravo Society, and will work towards achieving ambitious membership and fundraising goals, assisting with long-term financial planning and growing Lincoln Center’s endowment.
• Conduct a holistic assessment of the existing program; provide recommendations and strategic guidance regarding future deployment vis a vis the upcoming capital campaign. • Identify, cultivate and solicit planned gifts to support planned giving and endowment goals • Respond to inquiries and meet with planned giving donors/prospects and their advisors • Develop a compelling recognition program and prepare compelling proposals based on potential for giving and prospect interest • Work with colleagues to integrate a planned giving campaign in all fund-raising activities • Develop compelling marketing material and oversee strategic outreach plan, including digital and print campaigns, informational luncheons, etc. • Plan and execute a series of events for planned giving donors and prospects, including an annual luncheon and informational seminars • Cultivate relationships with attorneys, trust officers, accountants, financial planners and other estate planning professionals regarding gift opportunities for clients, to remain current on best practices, develop a network of resources from which to request help in obtaining referrals • Ensure records and reports are compiled and maintained in collaboration with Legal and Finance Departments • Track all donors and prospects in accordance with Lincoln Center business rules. • Conduct initial review of completed documents to ensure that they comply with Lincoln Center standards and IRS guidelines. • Serve as planned giving resource for staff and train colleagues to cultivate and solicit gifts
• 7+ years of experience working in planned giving • Knowledge of estate planning, including wills, trusts and estate and gift tax laws • Proven ability to solicit and close financial agreements • Excellent interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to compel, cultivate, and solicit high net worth individuals and their advisors • Excellent writing and public speaking skills • Strong analytical skills to research and identify potential donors • Knowledge of legal recordkeeping requirements for fundraising and documenting donations • Strong strategic thinking and vision setting skills, coupled with ability to work independently to bring that vision to fruition • Interest in the performing arts and/or cultural institutions a plus • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database management; Clearview and Tessitura a plus • Additional evening and weekend hours are required to attend meetings, fundraising and programmatic events • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
