Strategic Association Management (SAM) is seeking a new team member to fill the role of Meetings & Events Director. This is a senior-level full-time position with the primary responsibility for comprehensive management of specified client association events and professional development strategy. Also serves as the meeting/event planning lead for the company and organizes and supports the meetings staff and efforts. Related to client events, responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of all meetings and expositions, including scheduling, contracting, staff operations, exhibits management, education programs, services, promotions, programs, housing, food and beverage functions, social events, public relations, collections, and budgeting.
The Meetings & Events Director must be an experienced meetings professional and skilled project manager. This job requires strong analytical and technical abilities and demands fast, but carefully thought out results. Strong leadership and control of the work process from beginning to end is necessary. The job centers around developing new ideas, systems and technology, and also analyzing and improving on old ones. A high level of expertise is expected and the ability to spot and correct errors is important. Work must be done right and quickly, while always focusing on accomplishing the goal and demanding the highest quality work from co-workers and subordinates.

A Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
A minimum of 5 years of meetings management experience
Experience with management of multi-day conferences and events
Excellent verbal & written communication skills
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Limited travel/overnight stays outside of Austin to support events is required
Membership association/non-profits experience
Supervisory/team management experience
Experience with Mac OS
Experience with web-based CRM or AMS Software/Management System
Bilingual skills highly desirable
Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) or Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential
