The Events and Volunteer Manager is a member of the agency’s Development Department. This position leads the creation and implementation of unique special events through mobilizing volunteers, event committees and sponsors to ensure strong ROI and increased community connections that lead to additional revenue. In addition, the Events and Volunteer Manager is tasked with growing and managing the fundraising partnerships to support events and to generate additional revenue. The Events and Volunteer Manager is also responsible for developing and managing an active volunteer corps program that engages volunteers to use their interests, knowledge, skills, and network to help South Suburban Family Shelter meet funding goals and accomplish its mission.

The candidate should be a self-starter skilled in solving problems, motivating others and generating goodwill.
Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and carry out the details of fundraising events, including donor-centered cultivation and stewardship events
Act as liaison to external fundraising events
Act as organization representative to community groups
Assist with coordinating and setting up locations for special events (i.e. distributing marketing materials, maintaining guest lists, prepare registration materials, etc.)
Handle all administrative details associated with events
Prepare reports regarding fundraising events
Manage fundraising partnerships with corporations, civic organizations and community groups
Outreach to Faith Community to increase donations and fund drives
Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, volunteers, event committees, sponsors, and Speakers Bureau members
Develop and manage volunteer program including the onboarding, orientation, and supervision of all volunteers
Other duties as assigned
A minimum of two years of experience in fundraising responsibilities, event management, volunteer management, or related work experience or education equivalent
Experience working within a nonprofit development department preferred
Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
Must be detail-oriented with the ability to organize and prioritize work and to manage multiple projects at a time while meeting deadlines
Must be a positive, collaborative team player with the ability to work independently and take initiative
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to work evening and weekend hours for events and other meetings as needed
Must have privately owned vehicle, valid driver’s license and liability insurance; travel between locations and partnering sites required
Must be able to operate general office equipment
Must be able to stand/walk for periods of time and lift up to 25 lbs
Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner required
Experience with Giftworks or similar database software preferred
Proficiency with Bidding for Good preferred
Experience working in a Domestic Violence agency preferred
Complete 40-hour Domestic Violence Training within one year of hire
Ability to adhere to and demonstrate the values of SSFS

Additional Salary Information: Compensation is commensurate with experience, within the parameters of South Suburban Family Shelter’s compensation scale.
