VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE , edX , to define the process and implement the infrastructure and systems needed to support substantial growth over the next five years. Although edX is a not-for-profit, its accounting and finance needs are similar to those of a high growth startup company. Responsibilities include serving as business partner to the CEO and COO/president, leading/managing a small team, and interfacing with outside auditors and university financial leadership; developing financial strategies and systems for international business; managing month-end close and daily accounting operations; coordinating annual audit activities and conflict of interest surveys; filing Form 990 tax return; reviewing/approving financial reporting materials and metrics; performing asset management and treasury activities; overseeing budgeting, cash flow, and grant-related activities; evolving domestic and international accounting and taxation processes; acting as treasurer and contract signatory; and attending board of directors and finance subcommittee meetings.
REQUIRED : at least ten years' professional experience, including managing the finance and administration of a high-growth organization; experience creating and driving the analytic framework for planning and managing organizational change in a highly entrepreneurial organization; bachelor's degree (M.A./MBA preferred) in business, accounting, or finance; proven experience leading finance and accounting professionals; demonstrated financial management and accounting experience in a for-profit organization; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities, proposing new ways of creating efficiencies, and guiding investment in people and systems; excellent communication skills; experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team; flexibility and self-motivation; ability to multitask; and meticulous attention to detail. Experience in a B2C software company strongly preferred. Experience in the startup, university, or nonprofit sectors a plus. Job #16118-S
