Video Production/Archival Assistant sought for The HistoryMakers, the nation’s largest African American national nonprofit organization located in Chicago’s South Loop (www.thehistorymakers.com). The individual hired must be extremely detailed-oriented and able to effectively multi-task and manage several tasks simultaneously at once, with attention to detail. Prior experience in migrating footage and/or working in a TV master control environment critical. Knowledge of Photoshop and extensive database experience (FileMaker Pro) important. The person hired will be expected to be flexible and to work days, evenings and weekends as needed (a total of 50 hours per week). The position involves data entry and review, migration of its analog tapes to digital using the Samma Solo and processing new interviews.
Migrate and process video interview footage on a daily basis:
Make DVD dubs of The HistoryMakers' interviews;
Data entry into The HistoryMakers database;
Produce reports using The HistoryMakers database;
Photo captioning using Photoshop;
Troubleshoot equipment and software as necessary.

The HistoryMakers is a growing and dynamic 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating an unprecedented national video oral history archival institution recording the stories of both well-known and unsung African American HistoryMakers. The goal is to record at least 5,000 oral history interviews and to expose this material to the public through strategic media, technology, academic and community partnerships. In June 2014, the nation’s foremost repository—the Library of Congress—announced that it will serve as the permanentrepository of The HistoryMakers collection.
