The Humane Society of Naples, Florida is a thriving, complex business ready for the next level of structure and leadership. Ranked by Charity Navigator as one of the best animal shelter nonprofit organizations in the nation, HSN placed over 3,000 pets into forever homes last year and treated more than 8,000 animals in their full-service veterinary clinic that is open to the public.
The ED will have the opportunity to contribute new ideas and his/her own brand of leadership to strike the right balance between scale and structure for an organization with a current operating budget of approximately $4M and $20M in assets. Collaborating with the Board and empowering staff, the new ED will develop plans to continue the organization’s growth trajectory while ensuring efficiency and exceptional service delivery.
There is a strong external orientation to this position. Positive, active participation in the community and with donors is a key feature. The ED will serve as the public face of the organization and be a clear and persuasive advocate for HSN’s mission and impact to further enhance its work providing shelter to animals in times of need, locating life-long homes for pets, and promoting responsible pet ownership.
Desired Skills and Experience
We are looking for leaders with previous experience and success in an executive director or CEO role. Proven experience leading a nonprofit organization of a similar or larger size is highly desirable. Familiarity with social enterprises and nonprofit fundraising is an asset. No prior experience in an animal welfare organization is required. A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
