We are a small association management company located in the western suburbs of Chicago. This position has a mix of meeting and educational management requirements. The person filling the position will primarily work with one client, a 1,700 member health care society.
The client holds the following educational meetings annually:
• five 60-80 person regional meetings; • one 220-250 person Annual Meeting; • one 20-40 person alternative venue meeting (e.g, a cruise); and • one 8-12 person individualized learning certification.
The individual will staff the following committees:
• Education Committee (oversees various subcommittees which are responsible for planning the aforementioned educational activities); • Standards of Training Committee (establishes and maintains core curriculum for educational programming and reviews external applications for approval); • Program Committee (plans the Annual Meeting); • Distance Learning Task Force (plans virtual live and on demand education); • Regional Subcommittee (plans the regional meetings and alternative venue meetings); and • Review Committee (reviews education so it is consistent with accrediting bodies by which the client is approved, including ACCME, NASW, American Psychological Association, and Academy of General Dentistry).
The committee members are responsible for creating the content, finding speakers, and putting the programs together. Staff is responsible for facilitating the work of the committees.
This position is responsible for generating the letters of attendance for all meetings and mailing them to the participants. This position collects and presents to the relevant committees the needs assessment data required to prepare the educational programming.
The position requires out of state travel for 4 of the regional workshops for 4 days (1 is held in the state of Illinois); and the Annual Meeting for 5 days.
Familiarity with maintaining accreditation from the 4 aforementioned groups, including how to ensure that the educational programming of the society is consistent with those standards, is desirable.
Skills with laying out brochures and performing other desktop publishing activities in Adobe Creative Suites is a plus.
The person should be able to act independently and be quick on their feet, especially when they are traveling on their own to the society’s regional workshops.
