SmithBucklin, a 100 percent employee-owned association management company, is looking for a Membership and Operations Manager to join the Business + Trade team in our Washington D.C. office. Representing the majority of our client organizations, the Business + Trade team helps associations create value for the members by delivering strategy and thought leadership, networking opportunities, commerce solutions, education and certification, and advocacy and promotion. The Membership & Operations Manager plays a significant role in the management of our client associations' programs and supports the association Executive Director in all areas of association management.
What You Will Do
Oversee membership functions, to include general customer service, recruitment and retention
Manage day to day aspects of current and future member programs, projects and initiatives
Propose, develop and execute new member programs, work plans, timelines and high quality project deliverables
Ensure program offerings and outcomes are assessed using appropriate program evaluation methods
Provide lead staff support to client committees
Participate in planning, content development and management of client meetings and conferences
Write articles and regular relevant updates for client publications, web/social media and other industry publications
Coordinate client financial budgets; ensure adherence to budget guidelines and objectives
Gain exposure to the grant management process – to include identification of new grant opportunities, application management and compliance

Solid public speaking and presentation skills
Effective time management, prioritization and organizational skills
The ability to travel approximately 10%
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college/university
5+ years of related professional experience in an association and/or nonprofit environment, to include budget and people management
Experience in program monitoring and evaluation
Experience with quantitative and qualitative data collection and program evaluation methods
Proficiency with basic computer programming, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
