Our client, the Economic Development Group, Inc. (EDG), doing business as the WNY Workforce Training Center, is seeking a highly skilled, dynamic, and entrepreneurial individual to be the inaugural President for the WNY Workforce Training Center. The mission of the Center is to advance the economic well-being of the Western New York region by developing and maintaining a skilled and diverse workforce to meet the needs of the advanced manufacturing and energy sectors while providing opportunities to job seekers with pathways to career advancement and economic sustainability.
Reporting to the Economic Development Group (EDG), the inaugural President of the WNY Workforce Training Center (WTC) will work with collaborators and key stakeholders to support economic advancement through the development of a skilled workforce. In addition to providing leadership for the daily operations of the Center, the president will execute on strategic initiatives and seek new opportunities to support growth.
Position responsibilities include developing and driving the organization’s strategy and direction, providing financial oversight, building partnerships and collaborations in the community, identifying and securing funding opportunities, achieving sustainability goals and ensuring operational milestones are met.
The ideal candidate will be an entrepreneurial, strategic leader with expertise in a mission related venture. Passion and dedication to uplifting underrepresented and culturally diverse groups is essential for success in this role.
Five to seven years of management experience in a leadership position.
Master’s degree in Business or Education and/or equivalent working experience in the business/nonprofit sector.
Understanding and command of workforce issues, curriculum development, and workforce training programs a plus.
Prior nonprofit and or business/education experience working in a stakeholder driven organization.
Prior work with social venture and sustainable program models preferred.
Prior experience with programs or activities associated with mentoring traditionally underrepresented groups a plus, including, but not limited to: minorities, returning veterans, previously-incarcerated individuals, the unemployed/underemployed, refugees/recent immigrants, disabled persons, and/or other groups.
Ability to strategize and navigate complex situations effectively.
Experience raising funds in the mid-high six figure range annually preferred
Previous financial management experience, including effective management of budgets.
Entrepreneurial creative mindset and a strategic systematic approach.
Demonstrated experience in public speaking.
Manufacturing/energy industry experience is a plus.
