Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), one of the world's leading nonprofit research and development firms, seeks an exceptional leader to serve as its next Senior Vice President, Finance and Operations (SVP). Reporting to the President and CEO, the SVP will provide operational, business, and strategic leadership to bolster and expand EDC's ability to advance solutions to address some of the world's most urgent challenges. The SVP will be a member of the organization's senior leadership team and work in partnership with team members to achieve EDC's goals.
For over 58 years, EDC has been dedicated to improving education, health, and economic opportunities for people of all ages. From its earliest roots in science education to its current portfolios of programs across the globe, EDC's work has been united and grounded by a simple premise: Learning Transforms Lives. Today, EDC is a large, not-for-profit organization, working across the United States and in more than 25 countries. In collaboration with public, private, and community partners, EDC creates, implements, and evaluates innovations in programs and policies that address critical issues and empower people to live healthy and productive lives. EDC staff is committed to creating and translating the best research and evidence into real-world practices that are effective, scalable, and sustainable.
EDC is in the midst of an organization-wide re-design to create “one EDC,” an effort that will enhance EDC's reputation and external profile and foster the collaboration, innovation, and experimentation that will drive significant social impact. The new SVP will play a critical role in advancing this effort by marshalling the financial, technological, and human resources to sustain current work, grow new business, and deliver user-friendly, cost effective services. EDC seeks a transformational leader and change agent who is passionate about the organization's mission, committed to its cross-disciplinary and entrepreneurial culture, and farsighted about its future potential. The new SVP will oversee an Administration and Finance division comprised of strong functional leaders who have stewarded the organization, ensuring a solid financial position and compliance with regulations and funder requirements. The new leader will maintain this level of excellent performance but also bring a fresh perspective to the division and to EDC as a whole.
The successful candidate will possess an open, collaborative and highly communicative leadership style; a strong command of technology, and success in applying technology to drive agility, data analytics, and efficiency; demonstrated success in creating and implementing a talent management strategy (people, systems, approaches); a commitment to excellence in financial management and compliance; and demonstrated success in establishing and growing profitable services and/or businesses.
