The Associate Consultant provides accounting and/or consulting services to clients within established firm and accounting guidelines. Completes routine accounting assignments with minimal supervision.
Assists the SOS team in completion of basic accounting and/or consulting tasks not limited to: posting of cash receipts and disbursements, posting of journal entries, bank reconciliations, supporting documentation delivery and support in developing client accounting systems.
Prepares standard accounting workpapers and statements for assigned service areas.
Assists with software implementation projects.
Participates in planning and case management activities.
Attending, and when appropriate presenting at, appropriate training, conferences and networking events.
Processes clients’ daily accounting transactions, including but not limited to: accounts payable, cash disbursements, accounts receivable, cash receipts, and general ledger entries
Oversees clients’ payroll processing, which may include managing the relationship with the payroll vendor, entering payroll entries into the accounting software, and reconciling the payroll account at month-end
Assists the Consultant with the month-end and year-end close processes, including but not limited to bank reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, receivables, balance sheet account reconciliation, preparation of financial statements, and analysis of revenue/expense variances
Assists Consultant with year-end audit preparation and work papers
Communicates processes to improve workflow and achievement of clients’ internal and external reporting requirements
Communicates an understanding of the firm’s quality review process
Identifies technical issues and problems and communicates to Service Area Leader
Prepares standard accounting workpapers and statements for assigned service area
Records and posts journal entries, classifies entries and totals for an accounting period with proper approval
Two-Four year degree in Business Administration (or similar field) with a major in accounting required
Previous accounting experience in a nonprofit setting preferred.
Strong knowledge of Fund Accounting Software products, Excel and Microsoft Office.
