POSITIONS: Clinical Assistant Professor (Presidential Appointment) – Nursing Medical-Surgical

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Master’s degree in Nursing or related field is required; a minimum of one year clinical experience within the past 5 years that includes care of geriatric patients; evidence of one year or more teaching experience in a school or university nursing education program; eligible for a current and unencumbered CA Registered Nursing license and approval to teach in the area of specialization by the Board of Registered Nursing; BLS certified; and completion of a clear background check and drug screen.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Doctoral degree (Research or Practice or in progress); teaching experience (onsite, online, or hybrid) in a baccalaureate nursing education program for theory, clinical and practice simulation labs; evidence of a program of research or program/experience in quality improvement. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to achieving exceptional student learning experiences, participation in shared governance and the active support of the Department's vision/mission to advance health through community engagement and partnerships.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach primarily undergraduate Health Assessment, Fundamentals, Medical-Surgical I and II (Advanced Med-Surg/ICU) courses as assigned; facilitate student learning to achieve course learning outcomes; advise undergraduate students; provide academic leadership to adjunct faculty in specialization; and lead continuous quality improvement of curriculum and teaching effectiveness. Maintains scholarship-related activities commensurate with academic rank that includes the ability to apply for internal and/or external funding to support research/creative activity and/or student learning; and demonstrate professional and community service activities that include serving on Department, School, and University-wide committees and community outreach.
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience and academic rank.
