Shelter, Inc. is seeking a qualified applicant to serve as Coordinator of our Boys Group Home in Palatine. The program serves six youth at a time, 11-17 years old. Placements occur due to abuse, neglect, homelessness, domestic violence, and/or other parent/child conflict necessitating a cooling off period or temporary out-of-home placement. We are seeking a dynamic candidate (at least 25 years of age with two years of residential experience) to lead our team.
Provide supervision to Group Home staff and programs; responsible for the overall direct service to residents; maintain all house records, supplies, equipment, and inventories; and participate in community education.
SUPERVISION OF GROUP HOME WORKERS
Supervise the Group Home Workers around issues pertaining to daily living activities of all the residents.
Supervise the Group Home Workers in the integration of each resident’s counseling/ therapy program into the total program.
Evaluate the job performance of Group Home personnel with the approval of the Associate Director.
Provide individual supervision for each Group Home Worker.
Define and begin to remedy any inherent problems in the resident/Group Home Worker relationship.
Plan and implement staff meetings for Group Home Workers.
Coordinate with the Group Home Workers for suitable and appropriate times for outside therapy and consultation when warranted for the residents.
Ensure the maintenance of agency policies and procedures and the Department of Children and Family Services “Code of Ethics for Child Welfare Professionals.”
Maintain appropriate records regarding all purchases and maintain such purchases in accordance with allotted funds.
Plan for the purchase of required household and office supplies.
Ensure all maintenance tasks on facility and equipment are completed.
Maintain all required inventories and QA/UR activities.
Establish and follow through with a treatment plan for each resident.
Provide and ensure required casework services to each resident.
Work with outside agencies in the establishment of both short-term and long-term treatment plans for the residents.
Coordinate all transportation, medical, therapy, school, volunteer, and parental activities.
Relate to the residents in a supportive manner.
Provide supplemental services to the Group Home Worker as is required in the daily encounters with residents.
Provide 24-hour back-up services as required.
Provide supervision to interns.
Responsible for hiring and terminating Group Home personnel, with approval of the Associate Director.
Plan and implement Group Home programs to include individual, family, and group counseling.
Plan, implement, and supervise Group Home routine.
Tabulate and submit petty cash expenditures for accounting purposes.
Submit monthly mileage sheets for Group Home personnel and agency vehicle, Sliding Scale, and Breakfast and Lunch Monthly Records.
Responsible for staff scheduling.
Complete and submit attendance records for all Group Home personnel.
Maintain records and the required data for each resident.
Carry out all duties as designated by the Associate Director.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND RELATIONS
Participate in community education.
Assist in representing agency at community meetings.
HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT
Hours and days shall be scheduled according to the needs of the program.
Must be at least 25 years of age in accordance with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Licensing Standards for Group Homes.
Undergraduate degree in a human service field from an accredited school with a minimum of two years of residential experience required. Supervisory experience required.
Must meet Child Care Facility Driver requirements in accordance with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
Must have a valid driver’s license, an automobile, and adequate automobile insurance.
Must pass the requirements of the Applied Food Service Sanitation certification post-hire.
Must become certified in CPR and First Aid within six months of employment.
Must complete a Medical and T.B. test providing proof of results.
Must be fingerprinted by the State of Illinois and must submit to a full Background Check through the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
Must submit official educational transcripts from the last school in which a degree was awarded.
Ability to lift 40 lbs.
