EDUCAUSE http://www.educause.edu, a highly creative, entrepreneurial, national nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology, is currently seeking an Assistant Statistician for our Analytics & Research team. This is a full-time, exempt position working in our Louisville, CO office. The starting salary for this position will be commensurate with skills and experience.
The EDUCAUSE Analytics & Research team covers a range of topics and provides a varied suite of products to inform and guide the management of information technology in higher education. A&R products include: online member benchmarking portals for both the Core Data Service (CDS) and Technology Research in the Academic Community (ETRAC) programs; CDS and ETRAC publications, infographics, blog posts, and other deliverables; and CDS and ETRAC custom analytics graphics and reports. In this role, you will provide foundational data cleaning, preparation, integration, checking, analysis and modeling for EDUCAUSE benchmarking services, custom analytics, and research.
Serves as an expert in Analytics Services data. Supports the development of analysis plans based on CDS and ETRAC objectives and data. Proposes appropriate statistical analysis techniques for analysis of Analytics Services data. Proposes additional data sources (e.g. IPEDS) to augment analyses.
Performs data cleaning and data preparation tasks for CDS and ETRAC data sources. Uses statistical techniques to identify data quality issues and recommends improvements to data cleaning procedures.
Conducts and formats data analyses based on analysis plans for recursive and original research products using CDS and ETRAC data.
Reviews CDS- and ETRAC-based products and publications for statistical content and accuracy.
Assists Analytics Services (AS) Sr. Psychometrician on CDS and ETRAC research methodology, including questionnaire development and sample selection.
Provides input to the development of data collection tools for the CDS and ETRAC programs. Current tools include Qualtrics and Survey Gizmo.
Supports the maintenance of data tables and infrastructure needed to support Analytics Services, including updating tables in the EDUCAUSE data lake and working with the QlikSense environment.
Responds to and prepares deliverables for ad hoc data analysis requests from internal and external customers.
Participates in the creation of interactive data visualizations, self-service reports, and dashboards that give both internal and external end-users the ability to analyze, communicate, monitor, and plan for the future.
Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred, in statistics, biostatistics, economics, mathematics, or related field.
Practical independent experience in data management and analysis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficient with standard statistical techniques such as linear regression models, linear mixed models, clustering, factor analysis, time-series models, and power/sample size estimation, data mining.
Proficient in SAS programming and macros, including conducting basic data cleaning and data management, producing templated reports, and conducting statistical analyses.
Demonstrated experience formatting and reporting analyses for lay audiences.
Experience with or interest in learning other statistical packages (e.g., SPSS, R).
Ability to prioritize and manage time in meeting multiple commitments to multiple individuals.
Initiative to identify better ways to work, solve problems, and suggest improvements.
Familiarity with QlikSense or other data visualization platform (e.g. Tableau) highly desirable.
Familiarity with Qualtrics, SurveyGizmo, or other similar survey software highly desirable.
