The Michigan Municipal League is seeking a Risk Management Coordinator to enhance department activities and programs. In this role, you will serve as a liaison to our two insurance boards and program members, plan and execute several events and meetings, coordinate various audits and filings, and write, edit, and proofread an assortment of communications. Incredible organization and attention to detail is a must. You will also need to be self-motivated and have a willingness to jump in to do what’s needed to get the job done.
If you were working for us, here are just some things you would do:
Plan and execute all logistics associated with our insurance board meetings, conferences, and strategic planning sessions. This will include hotel and catering arrangements, working with vendors on contracts, and ensuring related expenses are in line with the budget.
Administer and coordinate the completion of various regulatory operational audits and filings. Work with internal staff and third-party service providers to distribute, collect, and compile the required documents and data and serves as a point person to auditors.
Serve as a liaison to the risk management board members and general members. Fields questions and requests, and provides information on department activities and initiatives.
Write, edit, and proofread a variety of communications including e-blasts, newsletters, flyers, and other print and digital materials. Maintain and update risk management websites and databases.
Provide administrative oversight of the League’s loss control services provided by third-party service providers. Monitor and evaluate the quality of service being performed and make recommendations for improvements.
Perform confidential administrative duties and complete other special projects as needed.
Associate’s degree is required, though a bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.
Five or more years of experience in a related field is required. Prior experience in an insurance organization is preferred.
Demonstrated organization and attention to detail skills.
Skill in using computers and Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint with the ability to learn new technologies.
Ability to clearly and accurately communicate complex information, both orally in in writing.
Ability to travel to meetings, events, and conferences, including those with overnight stay.
Ability to work and communicate effectively with different personalities and individuals at all levels.
