The School of Media Studies at The New School invites applications for an open rank one-year fixed-term faculty appointment in the Media Management Graduate Program beginning on July 1, 2018 with the possibility of one year renewal.
The Media Management Graduate Program enrolls 175 students each year from around the globe in its M.S. Degree and Certificate. The goal of the Program is to prepare students in critical evaluation and professional management to become influential managers or media entrepreneurs who will be innovative leader, influential managers or media entrepreneurs shaping the future of this field.
Responsibilities: We are seeking an outstanding faculty member to contribute to the curriculum of the Media Management program. They are expected to produce scholarly work and engage in professional and/or creative practice appropriate to their appointed rank and areas of expertise. The teaching course load is of five graduate/undergraduate courses per year or its equivalent plus advising students and supervise capstone projects. Collaboration with management faculties in the Parsons School of Design, the College of Performing Arts, the Milano School, and Bachelors Program for Adults and Transfer Students will be part of this position.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence as a teacher and practitioner or scholar and will have made significant contributions to discussions in the field of media management. We are seeking applicants who are recognized innovators or have made contributions to key discussions in the field of media management. A specialist in media management for nonprofits will be at a distinct advantage.
A terminal degree in a relevant field or an advanced degree with substantial media management experience is required.
Demonstrated experience (3+ years) teaching at the university level, or equivalent in addition to 5 or more years as a professional media maker, manager or business developer
Experience with mentoring students to engage in careers in media.
Capacity to work well with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and levels of professional experience.
Commitment to collaborating across the University and with external client partners.

Produce content for film, TV and/or new media
Digital and Social Media Marketing Strategy
Media Law and Policy
Business Development and Management in film/ television/ podcast/ multimedia publishing
Data Analysis for Media Businesses
