The Office of Development and Alumni Relations at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) invites applicants for a professional faculty position of Annual Giving Project Coordinator. VCU is a state-assisted, research university of 32,000 students set in the heart of the capital city of Virginia. VCU is in year two of the public phase of its comprehensive Make It Real Campaign for VCU designed to support the goals of the university's strategic plan, Quest for Distinction. With a team of 175 development and alumni professionals, working within a hybrid structure, the Office of Annual Giving is partially responsible for engaging VCU’s alumni, laying the foundation for future campaigns and meeting campaign goals. The Annual Giving Project Coordinator is a key team member in an annual giving office focused on growing the culture of philanthropy with VCU stakeholders. This new position will serve as a liaison between unit development offices and be involved in new revenue-generation platforms such as building student philanthropy programs, days of giving and crowdfunding.
Must have an advanced degree or training and work experience at a level that equates to an advanced degree.
Two years of work experience in fund raising, alumni relations, marketing, or nonprofit management.
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Two years in higher education annual giving or corresponding experience within the nonprofit setting.
Familiarity with Web-based giving platforms as well as social media trends.
Competent in environment where asking for philanthropic support is required.
Experience with marketing and segmentation programs.
Mastery of working with large sets of data.
Impeccable attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills including presentation, verbal and written.
