KUOW is the Puget Sound Region's NPR-affiliated public radio service for local, regional, national and international news, information and cultural programming. We serve more than one million users monthly: on-air, online, live streaming and on demand. KUOW operates four broadcast frequencies in Seattle and Western Washington State and produces discrete content services on an additional two HD channels. The mission of KUOW is to create and serve an informed publicone challenged and invigorated by an understanding and appreciation of events, ideas and cultures.
The station is licensed to the University of Washington, which is assisted in its operation and management by Puget Sound Public Radio, a private nonprofit corporation established in 1999 and governed by a community board.

To help in this mission KUOW has an outstanding opportunity for a Producer- Radio, Aural Content to establish a unique institutional audio signature via sophisticated, compelling and consistent audio production for broadcast and digital platforms under the direction of the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and in alignment with initiatives set forth by the Chief Content Officer (CCO).
Core Responsibility: Utilize design thinking supported by a deep skill set encompassing script writing, interviewing, audio recording, audio mixing, script editing, 30%
Music knowledge & selection toward the outcome of creation of station sound by producing long and short form audio elements including promos, 15%
Direction and quality control of content in aural form for strategic and situational campaigns and initiatives on all platforms15%
Maintain continuity with the station's brand identity for both generic ongoing campaigns and project specific campaigns and initiatives. 15%
Collect, catalog and archive audio for review, re-purposing in future coverage, marketing & promotions use, awards submissions, other internal purposes, etc. 15%
Provide special aural content support for Development and Business Support Depts. (fundraising/underwriting) 5%
Provide production instruction & training for staff, students and volunteers 5%
4-5 years' related experience including:
-Integrated skill set encompassing script writing, interviewing, audio recording, audio mixing, script editing, music knowledge & selection -Broadcast production experience with an emphasis on digital audio and automation systems
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Experience programming/voice-tracking a music service.
