Moveable Feast, a 501 c 3 nonprofit agency providing nutritious home-delivered meals to more than 3,200 individuals/year living with life threatening illnesses seeks temporary part time Events & Social Media Specialist (November 2017 through May 2018) to assists Development team carry out fundraising objectives; specifically, coordinating the Ride for the Feast’s event, social media & website.
ESSENTAIL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in the coordination of Moveable Feast’s signature fundraising event – Ride for the Feast (2-day/140 mile bike ride):
Recruit riders & volunteers;
Staff committee meetings;
Provide logistical details;
Coordinate bike route, permit applications, staff patterns for the Ride; &
Communicate with Riders & volunteers.
Oversee event budgets & purchase order processes for Ride for the Feast, with assistance from the Events & Social Media Manager.
Coordinate third party fundraising events sponsored on behalf of Moveable Feast, with assistance from the Events & Social Media Manager.
Work with Volunteer Services to recruit, engage & cultivate volunteers for Ride for the Feast & third party fundraising events.
Manage event related participant & financial reports, with assistance from the Events & Social Media Manager.
Sustain Moveable Feast’s Ride for the Feast website:
Help Riders set-up personal pages on Ride website; &
Troubleshoot event participant questions related to website functions.
Manage Moveable Feast’s website, with support from the Events & Social Media Manager.
Manage Moveable Feast’s social media sites; Facebook, Twitter & Instagram:
Create content & scheduling of posts;
Utilize social media analytics to drive scheduling & content creation; &
Work with social media third party management company on content creation & scheduling, as needed.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public relations, communications or related field preferred, but not required. Must possess a minimum of 1-3 years in event planning & development. Available to work 5-6 hours a day/4-5 days a week starting November 2017 through May 2018.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Knowledge of special event planning, customer service, website management & donor recruitment & retention.
Skilled in fundraising events, corporate & business solicitations & relations; computer programs: Blackbaud, DonorPro, & Constant Contact, preferred but not required. Excellent writing & oral skills. Able to handle multiple tasks & deadlines simultaneously; gather data, compile information & prepare reports; use independent judgement & manage & impart confidential information; read & comprehend simple instructions; write simple correspondence; effectively present information to individuals & groups; apply common sense understanding; carry out instructions furnishes in written, oral or diagram form; interact with a diverse staff & client population; move freely; & lift up to 25 lbs.
