The position of Program Officer (PO) is responsible for providing support to the Associate Director with technical assistance, monitoring and evaluation of program sites, oversees utilization of the program’s database to ensure compliance with the Office of Refugee Resettlement and USCRI policies and procedures and ensures efficiency of record keeping practices. This position is based in Arlington, VA.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides ongoing support to program staff to respond to monitoring and evaluation outcomes and alter methods to improve program results;
Provides training and support to program staff to ensure implementation of program guidelines;
Assists with on boarding new staff and is responsible for understanding and complying with all policies and procedures of the Post Release Services (PRS) and Home Study (HS) program and interprets them for staff, as needed;
Provides intensive and accuratereview of HS and PRS reports in a timely manner;
Provides guidance to case managers by conducting weekly staffing/supervision of on-site staff.
Conducts outreach to service providers to raise awareness and enhance existing network of support to children and families and coordinate/maintain communication with key stakeholders; and
Other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Masters of Social Work or a Bachelor’s degree in social work or equivalent with 5 years’ experience is required, though LCSW is preferred;
Ability to work well independently and in a team. Three years supervisory experience is required;
Must possess a demonstrated understanding and experience with case management, home placements, and child welfare in addition to monitoring and evaluation;
Excellent organizational, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
Strict adherence to time frames, policy and procedure; ability to prioritize duties and multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
Ability to travel at least monthly. Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Fluency in Spanish required; proficiency in additional languages a plus;
Candidates must pass a criminal background check that includes past histories of convictions of child and sexual abuse;
Candidate must have dedication to the human rights of refugees, immigrants, asylum seekers and displaced people; and
Demonstrate commitment to the mission of USCRI and interest in growing in a nonprofit development department long-term.
Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio acuity;
Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands; and
Occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds), bending, pulling, and carrying.
