The Development Director is responsible for the oversight and day-to-day execution of fundraising strategies for Healthy Smiles, Healthy Children (HSHC): The Foundation of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. In conjunction with the Vice President for Development and Charitable Programs, the Director will create and execute an annual fundraising initiative, consistent with the HSHC strategic plan and in consultation with the Development and Marketing Manager.
The Director is responsible for all aspects for cultivating, acquiring and upgrading major gifts from AAPD members. The Director also will lead the development and execution of HSHC’s strategy for generating support from outside the AAPD membership. The individual will oversee the administration of HSHC’s donor relations software (Raisers Edge/NXT), including supervision of the Donor Relations Assistant.
The Director will support the Vice President for Development and Charitable Programs in ensuring HSHC donors remain apprised of the positive impact that their gifts have on the children served by HSHC grantees.
The ideal candidate will have at least eight years of fundraising experience, demonstrating growth in capacity and scope of responsibilities. Hospital and/or university (health-related) development experience is preferred. Experience with database management systems is required; knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’ Edge is a plus. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel up to 60 percent of the time.
The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, good organizational skills, strong attention to detail, multi-tasking abilities, and excellent computer literacy in MS programs. A Bachelor’s degree is required; CFRE credential is preferred.
