The Program Coordinator (PC) is a full-time position responsible for supporting the development and implementation of Oral Health America’s (OHA) Smiles Across America® (SAA) program. The PC works with the Director of Programs (DoP) to support the design and implementation of programs and projects focused on children and youth. The PC will work on cutting edge projects and initiatives, such as, providing primary emphasis on the Early Childhood Caries Prevention Project, which seeks to reduce the incidence of dental decay in children under the age of 5 and the Human Center Design Leadership initiative, which examines creative ways to inspire communities and providers to strengthen the delivery of oral health preventive services to vulnerable children in school-based settings.
The PC will coordinate the convening of national SAA program events, such as the Biennial National Share and Learn conference, which brings together community based program partners to explore and examine new initiatives at the local level. Additionally, s/he will plan partnership celebrations and project kick-off events.
The PC will also collaborate with the Advancement Team to support the development, planning and implementation of OHA’s SAA program. This includes researching relevant background and summaries/case studies and funding opportunities for use in OHA’s development and communication efforts.
The PC will also support SAA program partners through phone, online and face to face meetings, as well as coordinate reports and evaluation materials with partner sites
The PC will help extend OHA’s impact on oral health policy affecting children and youth by collaborating with the Public Affairs Coordinator and by participating in coalitions and workgroups that address related issues/policies. S/he will inform OHA team members of opportunities and actionable items related to children and youth.
The PC will manage the Product Donation Project by fulfilling SAA Partners product requests from dental industry. He/she will coordinate the submission of program data to accurately demonstrate the need and cost savings.
The PC will write and work with OHA’s Marketing Manager to edit the Behind the Smiles, an electronic newsletter for SAA Program Partners. S/he will manage the SAA Webinar Series by researching topics, identifying speakers, conducting webinars and developing webinar evaluation tools and reports.
The PC will participate in weekly/quarterly staff and program team meetings, as well as in some conferences, donor calls and presentations.
SMILES ACROSS AMERICA®
Work closely with the Director of Programs to implement and expand the Smiles Across America® (SAA) program.
Collaborate with the DoP in managing the Smiles Across America’s School-based Prevention and the Early Childhood Caries Prevention Projects.
Interface with and support SAA partners – recognizing their success, monitoring their adherence to SAA standards, and work with them on program/community challenges.
Coordinate the planning and execution of SAA events, such as project planning meetings, the Biennial Share and Lean Conference, Partnership Celebrations and Partner Dinners.
Manage the Product Donation Project.
Execute the SAA Webinar Series.
Provide content for grant applications and reports.
Participate in coalitions and workgroups that share OHA’s mission and values
Collect and analyze SAA program data that illustrates the program’s impact.
Draft and disseminate the Behind the Smiles electronic communication newsletter.
Support the DoP in managing the SAA master calendar and program deadlines.
Additional Projects as assigned
Collaborate with Marketing Manager to:
Support integration of SAA across social marketing platforms.
Provide program content for posting, for OHA’s eNewsletter, Facebook and Twitter pages.
Participate in calls, webinars, and meetings (as appropriate).
Support the meaningful development of children and youth oral health content for OHA’s policy-related communications and events (as appropriate).
Participate in OHA staff meetings and annual retreat (if held)
Participate in SAA program meetings and events
Collaborating with the Advancement Team, support development of relevant OHA communications materials, such as fundraising tools, eNewsletters, brochures, videos, Powerpoint presentations, electronic pieces, etc.
BA or BS degree required
Evidence of, commitment to, and understanding of programmatic/communications solutions for oral and whole health literacy and practice
Demonstrated passion, experience and ability to manage projects serving vulnerable and multi-cultural populations
Commitment to learning and putting knowledge to use
Thrives on working in a collaborative environment
The ability to travel domestically 15-20%, including some weekends
Excellent project management skills, with a focus on planning, meeting deadlines, prompt follow-up and ability to synthesize and summarize activity
Excellent writing and verbal communications skills
Excellent research skills, including ability to gather qualitative and quantitative data from a variety of sources including people, websites, journals, etc.
Track record in meeting deadlines, working collaboratively, independently and creatively
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, and email distribution services such as Mail Chimp, Survey Monkey
