IAHSS seeks a Chapter Relations and Membership Associate to join the organization in its new Chicago office (in Rosemont, steps off the Cumberland Blue Line stop) during an exciting time of change, growth and opportunity for the association. The Chapter Relations and Membership Associate will report to, and work closely with, the Executive Director to liaise with, monitor and support more than 30 IAHSS chapters and all individual members. This individual will serve as the primary support for IAHSS chapter leaders and also process and approve new and renewing memberships. This role is key to the recruitment and retention of membership as well as essential to the success of volunteer leaders within the association. IAHSS has a small, 5-person staff managing a wide range of activities and products designed to help our members in their professional careers. The role requires exceptional business communication and customer service skills, as well as technical acumen in association management systems, websites, social media, and Microsoft Office tools. Attention to detail, positive attitude and adaptability are essential!
Update, maintain and promote the IAHSS chapter leadership toolkit that provides reference materials, requirements and guidance for running a local IAHSS chapter.
Proactively reach out to individual chapter leaders on a regular basis to provide support, gather feedback, and encourage the use of IAHSS tools.
Maintain accurate records of all chapters including chapter leaders, affiliation agreements, incorporation status, membership lists, meetings, minutes, etc, and work with chapter leaders to ensure compliance with all IAHSS chapter requirements
Train chapter leaders in developing and maintaining their online YM communities including membership lists, websites, online event promotion and registration, and discussion forums through IAHSS’ YourMembership.com association management system.
Lead the effort to plan the annual Chapter Leadership meeting occurring prior to the Annual Conference & Exhibition each year, including developing the agenda, facilitating group discussion, securing speakers and managing promotion and registration of the event.
Identify areas in which a new chapter is needed/requested and work with local volunteers to develop the chapter. This will include the US and Canada and may include other international locations.
Work with the Education Manager to develop, maintain and promote use of a speakers bureau, including feedback on speakers who have presented at chapter meetings/events.
Work with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator to promote chapter events, membership benefits and other relevant information through the IAHSS website, newsletters, emails, social media or other channels.
Create presentation materials for Board meetings regarding the development and progress of chapters
Serve as the primary staff support for the IAHSS Membership Council, which includes regional and chapter leaders, and work with the Council Chair to develop agendas, manage the group activity and maintain the council charter.
Regularly process new and renewing IAHSS memberships, run membership reports and reach out to expired members.
Assist in the planning, promotion and execution of the Annual Conference & Exhibition as needed, including on-site support.
Assist in administrative office duties such as answering phones, processing certification applications, and other support as needed by the IAHSS staff team.
Respond to all member and non-member inquiries in a professional, courteous and timely manner.
Other duties may be assigned by the Executive Director to contribute to the overall support and growth of the association
High level proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook)
Experience with association management systems (i.e. YourMembership.com) is preferred
Experience in website development and online communities
Must be comfortable learning new software and systems as required.
Strong project management, organizational, communication and analytic skills

Ability to work independently with high level guidance to manage several wide-ranging projects
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications or a related field is required
1-3 years association management experience required, with specific chapter relations experience and/or healthcare-related association experience preferred.
Some limited travel may be required, which may include occasional weekends. Travel anticipated to be less than 5% annually, but may grow as the position grows.
A clean background check is required to be eligible for hire.
