TAGT is seeking a new team member to fill the role of Communications Manager. This is a full-time position with the primary responsibility of managing all communication activities for TAGT. This includes development of effective messaging and branding; designing, implementing and maintaining of the Association website; providing effective and timely communication to all stakeholders; managing TAGT collateral and literature.
The Communications Manager must be self-motivated and demonstrate the ability to collaborate with other TAGT employees in fast-paced, flexible environment. The position requires keen organizational skills, as well as the proven ability to manage and organize detailed process and procedures to support membership efforts and office functionality. A Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
A minimum of 3 years of marketing, web and/or print design experience;
Experience working with content management systems, social media and mobile applications;
Excellent verbal & written communication skills;
Ability to effectively work under tight deadlines and manage projects independently;
Ability to work independently or as a team member with multiple tasks at hand and with set time frames;
Strong editorial and organizational skills with attention to detail;
Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite or similar product;
Basic layout/graphic design experience;
Limited travel and overnight stays outside of Austin to support Association events is required.
The Texas Association for the Gifted & Talented (TAGT) is a statewide 501(c)3 charitable not-for-profit organization of more than 3,000 educator and parent members dedicated to meeting the needs of gifted and talented students. TAGT recognizes the unique social, emotional, and intellectual needs of these students and provides educational services to meet these needs. The TAGT office is located in Austin and operations are managed and facilitated by 6 full-time employees.
