The Development Director for PsychArmor should be an experienced, entrepreneurial, articulate and highly motivated professional with at least five years of experience in the non-profit fund development field. This is a new position based in Washington D.C., creating a permanent footprint for the organization, which is based in San Diego, CA. The Director will foster relationships with key funding organizations and influential/philanthropic individuals to create enduring partnerships with PsychArmor. He/she will be held accountable for cycling those relationships inside a moves management system toward new sponsorships, grants and individual philanthropic gifts to Psycharmor.
Create a financial development plan which increases revenues in support of PsychArmor’s nonprofit mission
Implement the development plan to ensure that fundraising goals are met in accordance with ethical fundraising principles
Support the CEO’s development and fundraising activities and follow up
Work with the organization’s Board to maximize their personal and professional development contributions
Oversee the activities of the Grant Writer in the preparation and timely submission of grants and the administration of a donor mailing list and database.
Identify and develop new government, corporate, foundation, and individual prospects for fundraising Manage the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of all prospects and donors
Adapt fundraising strategies as necessary
Develop and manage timelines for various fundraising activities to ensure plans and critical fund raising processes are carried out in a timely manner
Identify grant opportunities and coordinate with other members of the PsychArmor team to draft the grant application
Oversee the planning and execution of special fundraising events as required.
Coordinate in-kind donations
Manage fund development budget:
Develop and gain approval for an annual income and expenditure budget for the fund development program
Monitor expenses and analyze budget reports on fund development and recommend changes as necessary
Prepare regular reports on progress, budgets, receipts and expenditure related to fundraising and the management of the fund development activities

Education: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree – preferably in marketing, public affairs, fund development or related discipline
Experience: Minimum five years of non-profit fund development. Proven track record of achieving fund development goals. In-depth knowledge of the grant proposal process
Communication skills - Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Demonstrated ability to create clear and persuasive communications in both traditional and digital formats, with varying audiences.
Software Proficiency: Adept at Microsoft Office products, and experience with Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or similar CRM/Development databases
S. military veteran or extensive experience and familiarity with military culture preferred.
Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation is an asset
