We are a small CPA firm looking for a sharp, talented, and driven person who has at least seven years of experience in auditing and accounting for nonprofit organizations. We value people who have a positive outlook and bring new ideas to the group. While many of our clients are in the Ann Arbor area, we also service nonprofits in other areas of the country. Our firm's core value is to help nonprofits make a difference in the world.
As our firm strives to provide the very best service possible to our clients, we also make an effort to offer as much flexibility to our staff as possible while maintaining a high level of quality in our work. We estimate that about 60% of the work can be performed remotely (e.g. a home office). The majority of on-site work will be during audit fieldwork, client meetings, presentations to committees and boards of directors, and staff meetings or training sessions. There could be some occasional overnight travel to our Denver location.
We operate in a paperless environment, using online applications (cloud computing), so you'll need to be comfortable utilizing technology. You'll be provided a company laptop, dual monitor, and scanner. It will be helpful if you have experience using Creative Solutions/Engagement CS and UltraTax software. It will also be very helpful if you have advanced skills in Excel.
This position requires an individual who is highly-motivated, highly-organized and detail-oriented. You’ll be required to lead the audit team in the field, with oversight and support from the partner. The applicant must have the ability to communicate directly and effectively with the accounting team as well as with the clients' staff. We are looking for a candidate who can establish a friendly rapport that instills trust among team members and clients (strong social skills), while still having a solid understanding of the FASB Codification and the clarified Statements on Auditing Standards (strong technical skills).
The position will be a flexible but full-time position (40 hrs/week). Bonuses may be paid based on factors that will be discussed during the interview. Current benefits include paid time off, holiday pay, health insurance, and a 401(k) plan in which you'll be able to participate after an introductory period. The position will likely begin in late September.
Please email your resume and cover letter by September 15. Your cover letter should clearly state why this position resonates with you and what you can offer to our team as we look to continually improve in the audit service we deliver to our clients. A list of 3 business references may be requested at a later date.
