Founded in 1988, Food & Friends provides freshly prepared meals, nutrition support, and friendship to people living with AIDS, cancer, and other life challenging illnesses. Our team of fifty-five employees and thousands of volunteers delivers meals and hope to people living in the District of Columbia and multiple counties across Maryland and Virginia. There is no charge or income qualification for our services, which are rendered solely on the basis of medical need.
Food & Friends’ growing development department has a new opportunity for an Annual Fund Director. The Director will manage all aspects of a growing annual giving program, including prospecting, direct marketing (online and offline), mid-level donors, monthly sustainers, and workplace giving. Additionally, the Director will:
supervise the Individual Giving Associate;
collaborate with other development professionals to craft integrated marketing strategy for all annual giving programs;
provide direction and strategy for a range of digital and offline appeals, campaigns, and initiatives including letters, e-mail, sustainer campaigns, donation pages, and acknowledgements;
design and implement strategies to upgrade donors to higher levels of giving;
regularly monitor, analyze, and evaluate annual giving results and benchmarking reports in order to continuously hone the efficacy of annual giving programs; and
manage vendors supporting annual giving initiatives and programs.
This position requires a highly collaborative fundraising professional who can succeed while working independently and as part of a team. We anticipate that the Director will begin in January 2018.

The successful candidate will have a BA/BS, and at least five years of relevant nonprofit experience, including two years of integrated direct marketing and acquisition management experience, and at least one year of supervisory experience. Other requirements include experience devising digital and offline cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies; experience writing fundraising materials; superb written and verbal communication skills; and an appreciation for diversity. Experience with a social service agency or large development office, and knowledge of Luminate (Convio) is a plus. Offer of employment contingent upon a pre-employment drug test.
