Tower Hill School, located in Wilmington, DE, is a day school serving students ages 3 - Grade 12. Tower Hill seeks a Controller who will be under the direct supervision of the Chief Financial Officer. The Controller will be responsible for managing the general ledger, processing payroll, and providing oversight of all finance, accounting and reporting activities. The Controller will oversee day-to-day finance operations of a budget of approximately $20 million and have functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, student billing, and payroll.
In addition, s/he will partner with the CFO, senior leadership and information technology (IT) staff to enhance and better integrate finance, HR and IT functions.
Maintain all accounts and reporting systems with appropriate GAAP standards and requirements
Maintain internal safeguards for revenue, cost and program budgets
Coordinate all audit activity
Assist with the annual budget
Support for the Board Audit, Finance and Investment Committees
Oversee all financial and program accounting
Manage organizational cash flow forecasting
Manage and track the performance of invested assets
This is an excellent opportunity for a mature leader with seven to ten years of non-profit accounting and finance experience, ideally beginning in accounting and audit, followed by experience gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to executive teams and external stakeholders. S/he will ideally have experience in the independent school sector or, alternately, experience in a complex nonprofits with multiple programs and expanding operations.
-Minimum of a BA in accounting. CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred -Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development -Technology savvy with advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software. Experience in Financial Edge or similar package required

This position is classified as exempt from the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
