The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) is recruiting for an experienced leader to serve as Senior Director for Information and Membership Systems, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.

The rapid acceleration of technology is impacting what associations do and how they do it. This is particularly true in regard to collection and analysis of data. What was unimaginable just a few years ago is expected as the norm today. As a result, associations are creating new positions and staffing configurations that blend information systems and the business management end of membership. The new CASE strategic plan clearly raises the expectations in regard to expansion of data collection and analytics for member (industry) performance metrics as well as member engagement levels with CASE. The strategic plan gives us license and a mandate to expand our activities relative to data collection and analysis on both fronts. This new position, as outlined below, is designed to address these new expectations in a rapidly changing world, blending information systems and membership systems.
The Director for Information & Membership Systems serves as a key leader for CASE providing strategic vision and leadership for information, analytics, technology systems, that align with the strategic plan and the “one CASE” principle of an integrated global organization. This role is responsible for enterprise information systems, developing analytics that drive data based decision making and innovation to both improve member experience and engagement and staff and volunteer access to tools, technology and resources directing the strategy, planning and implementation of organization-wide membership growth, The focus on data collection and analysis will impact operations by improving cost effectiveness, service quality, timely and strategic decision making. This individual is responsible for strategic leadership of data collection and hosting, analysis, market segmentation, information technology systems support, configuration, training and processes.
The Senior Director for Information & Membership Systems will work closely with the Volunteer and Member Engagement team and the Global Engagement team provide counsel, establish and maintain best practice standards to manage develop and maintain membership, information systems and innovation processes in keeping with the “One CASE” principle.
The Senior Director for Information & Membership Systems manages the business processing end of membership as a product world-wide. Specifically, this entails strategic leadership and support of data collection, records retention, member growth strategies through acquisition and retention, and the processing of renewals. This is the operational process that supports the front line member engagement staff. The Membership Systems team can be compared to the Advancement Services team in a university setting, providing the back end business management support (including data collection and analysis) that empowers the front line member engagement staff.
The Senior Director for Information & Membership Systems will develop and implement strategy for data collection, hosting, analysis, enterprise risk management and related policy matters for a $25M global organization. This will require regular collaboration with the CASE executive leadership team (ELT) and board. This position is the senior information systems executive world-wide, responsible for oversight of all information and systems strategies, processes, standards and protocols, analytics, resource investments, enterprise risk management, system audits, data integrity and security.
Functional and Leadership Responsibilities
The Senior Director for Information & Membership Systems is expected to manage information systems and membership systems providing strategic leadership and ensuring:
Alignment with the strategic plan and annual operating plan
Annual performance management with goals and metrics
Budgeting for resource to attain its goals,
Support of the “One-CASE” principle and the desired global culture of CASE, including by liaising with colleagues in other parts of the world to ensure the best sharing of ideas, expertise and knowledge.
The Senior Director for Information & Membership Systems plays a lead role in the implementation of the strategic plan by managing three critical operations:
Resource deployments in hardware and software
Training and support
Data collection and Retention
Member acquisition campaigns
Member retention campaigns
Membership renewal processing and collections
The Senior Director for Information & Membership Systems will interact regularly with the CASE executive team as the senior executive for all issues related to information systems and membership systems. In this capacity he/she is expected to collaboratively work with the other executive team members to make organization-wide decisions that most effectively advance the mission and strategic direction of CASE .This requires the exercise of strategic thinking and vision, cross organizational collaboration, effective relationships with peers, effective team building of the staff, advancing the culture of CASE and serving as a role model for employees.
Performs Other Duties and Responsibilities as Assigned by the Supervisor
Education and Experience: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree, and a minimum of eight years’ experience, including experience/expertise managing global nonprofit enterprise operating in multiple currencies, reporting from various regional currencies into world-wide consolidated financials in USD. Experience with association management systems including Acumatica and Personify.
Skills and Abilities:
Business planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting expertise.
Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations including PCI Compliance, data governance and management, and data security management.
Proven ability to lead cross-organizational teams.
Strong negotiation skills and contract management expertise.
Exceptional interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills.
Master’s degree or equivalent in technology or business administration and minimum 10 years’ experience in management, with minimum five years’ experience at a senior management level.
The successful candidate will lift this position to a higher level of global leadership impacting information systems and membership systems world-wide. S/he will be a strategic leader, change agent and manager with exceptional interpersonal, organizational, oral and written communication skills; high productivity; ability to manage multiple priories and to demonstrate a positive approach in demanding situations; demonstrated experience and proven ability to maintain confidentiality. The successful candidate will demonstrate the skill and experience to lead membership, information systems and innovations operations world-wide.
