Serve as a member of the Prison Education Program (PEP) leadership team. Plan, develop, and implement pre-release and post-release services for students at Wallkill Correctional Facility. Consult with programs and departments at NYU to develop program support and resources and co-sponsor events. Manage student records and develop a system for program evaluation. Consult with community organizations to develop social service agency referrals and resources for PEP students post-release.
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree.
Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in a related field.
Required Experience: Min 3 years of experience in the nonprofit, social service, or higher education sector. Knowledge of re-entry resources and social service agencies. A demonstrated commitment to social justice. Demonstrated understanding of the landscape of services available to incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people in New York City.
Preferred Experience: Specific background in post-release programming and/or social services desirable. Program administration, partnership management, individual case management and experience supervising others preferred. Experience working with individuals and communities impacted by incarceration.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Ability to think strategically and analytically about social, economic, and political issues affecting the students of the Prison Education Program. Ability to develop and implement work plans and systems of evaluation. Strong Microsoft Office and computer skills. Excellent organizational skills, cultural competency, and ability to form and maintain strategic partnerships. Strong interpersonal, collaborative, managerial, staff-development and leadership skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to articulate a strategic vision. Ability to work individually and independently, and exercise leadership as a team member.
