About the Organization: The mission of New Moms is to express the love of God by surrounding young moms and their children with all they need to transform their lives. New Moms is a 34 year old nonprofit organization, with a budget of $3.1 million and a staff of about 40, focused on serving young moms in Chicago. New Moms’ model provides a comprehensive range of services to young moms and their children including supportive transitional housing, workforce development, and early childhood services. New Moms’ headquarters is located on the west side of Chicago in the Austin neighborhood. Our social enterprise, Bright Endeavors, which provides paid transitional jobs for young moms, is located nearby in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. We also have another location in Oak Park.
About the Job: Serving as part of the Family Support team, she/he provides direct supervision of the home visiting team and plans and implements Parent Support Groups that meet the goals of the program. This position supports the agency’s vision, philosophy and values in the comprehensive delivery of services to young moms and their children through family support programs and activities. This position is focused on ensuring high quality implementation of home visiting meets Parents as Teachers fidelity. This position is located at our main office in the Austin neighborhood. Salary: $47,500
50% Home Visiting Manager 1. Supervises home visitors to ensure all Parents as Teachers’ guidelines and IBTI benchmarks are met in the home visiting program, and that all home visitors are at case load. 2. Participates in the hiring, training, and supervision of the home visiting team. 3. Directs all aspects of service delivery including program development, implementation, evaluation, and supervision of the home visiting staff. 4. Works with the Assistant Director of Family Support and Director of Performance Management to develop, implement and track progress on programmatic plans, quality assurance activities, along with required reporting and program outcomes. 5. Ensures staff compliance with Agency database (ETO) and funder databases, checking monthly reports for accuracy and completion. 6. Performs other related duties as assigned.
50% Group Facilitator 1. Develops topics, curricula and other materials, focusing on parenting issues that meets Parents as Teachers’ guidelines and IBTI benchmarks. 2. Facilitates up to two parent supports groups per week in collaboration with home visitors. 3. Identifies, confirms, and schedules external speakers to support curriculum topics as appropriate. 4. Makes all preparations for parent support group meetings, including meal planning, parent-child activities and other necessary activities. 5. Supervises the overall implementation of group and child care activities during programming. 6. Assists with administration of the boutique incentive program. 7. Coordinates quarterly participant surveys and program evaluation.
The successful candidate will possess:
Enthusiasm for mission-driven work and interest in work with young moms at the time of pregnant and early parenting
Bachelor’s Degree in related field required with a minimum of 2 years of related home visiting and/or group work experience required; masters preferred
Parents as Teacher’s certification preferred
Spanish speaking preferred
Endorses a Family-Centered, Trauma-Informed, Strengths-Based practice model that integrates harm reduction, motivational interviewing, executive skills, infant mental health, and positive youth development practices in working with young moms and their children required
Position requires utmost integrity; ethical behavior and appropriate business practices are expected
Strong interpersonal and communications skills, and ability to work both collaboratively and independently
A functional car with valid insurance, along with a valid driver’s license
