This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Coordinates intermediate level accounting functions such as general ledger/account maintenance, account reconciliation, data processing and reporting.
Accounting, Auditing, Treasury and Tax Reporting:
Oversight for tracking, reconciling and recording all cash activity related to 33 plus branch and corporate bank accounts including bank service fees, NSF checks, credit card settlements and other reconciling items
Reconcile all bank accounts within 30 days from the statement date and prepare the necessary reconciling entries
From a treasury operations standpoint, manage the daily positive pay file, track and validate that all ACH and wire transactions have been recorded, and ensure the various bank accounts have adequate cash balances for expected cash out flows
Develop daily cash flow reporting modeling
Assist in approving or initiating preauthorized ACH or wire payments using the online banking software.
Journalize all incoming and outgoing ACH and wire transfers. Lead or assist in modifying and/or setting up new bank accounts, including signature cards, resolution and incumbency, check scanners, etc.
Serve as liaison between the Gateway Region YMCA branch personnel and the credit card processor in addition to fielding branch finance questions
Annual finalization of FSA accounts
Lead in preparing the special events portion of the annual 990 tax return schedules
Actively participate in, direct, and collaborate in merger related analysis and accounting tasks
Assist in preparing annual financial statements for United Way funding
Create and approve manual and online journal entries
Assist and guide others in the preparation of the year-end tax return, occasional census and annual audit work papers including internal control narratives, risk assessment documents and confirmations
Coordinate the record retention of the Accounting Department files in accordance with Association policy
Participate with the auditors and others during the annual audit
Reconcile other balance sheet accounts as assigned by the Controller
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget allocations, such as leases, debt service, capital fees, endowment earnings and other assigned items
Actively participate in, direct and collaborate in routine and new financial planning and analysis studies and other special projects
Assist in upcoming systems implementations and process improvements
Perform all other assignments as deemed appropriate by the Vice President-Controller
Take responsibility for your own professional development within the YMCA leadership development educational guidelines
Education: Bachelors in Accounting or Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting
Experience: Minimum five (5) years of experience
Certification: Certified Public Accountant preferred
Other: Should have significant experience with Excel and report writing/ query software
Strong written, verbal and human relation communication skills
