The HR Generalist is a full-time, salaried, exempt position that will provide day-to-day human resources assistance including talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations and compliance management. This role will support our current staff of 40 and ensure that the organization is well-positioned to meet the needs of its growing staff. The HR Generalist will report to the Chief Operating Officer.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of employee relations, including benefits, reporting, performance reviews, disciplinary action processes, and exit interviews
Prepare accurate payroll every two weeks
Perform internal customer service functions by answering requests and questions
Own full cycle of recruitment process—from job description through interviews and hiring through new hire orientation and follow-up at 90-day probationary period
Manage onboarding and processing of new hires and separations
Maintain personnel files; respond to external employment verification inquiries
Conduct annual benefits open enrollment period
Maintain relationships with outside vendors
Assist with professional development opportunities for staff
Conducts annual comprehensive audit of HR policies and procedures to ensure best practices are followed and that the organization can continue to attract and retain top quality employees
Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal employment laws
Update Employee Handbook as needed
Ensure the organization’s Core Values are incorporated into all aspects of work
3-6 years HR Generalist experience with considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources administration, particularly in a nonprofit environment
Intermediate/Advanced MS Office Suite skills, MS Outlook experience
Solid understanding and knowledge of policies, procedures, federal/state legislation as it affects employment law and general HR administration
Supervisory experience and bilingual skills preferred
Working knowledge of Paylocity is helpful
Working knowledge of DiSC helpful
High degree of confidentiality with thoughtfulness, candor and discretion
Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
Critical thinker able to plan and meet established deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a rapidly changing and diverse environment
