Northeastern University's College of Professional Studies invites applications for a full-time, non-tenured faculty position in an innovative and expanding Master of Science in Corporate and Organizational Communication Program. The MSCOC program is offered domestically and internationally in both online and blended formats.
Responsibilities include: teaching a full-time load of 36 hours with a heavy emphasis on core courses, including crisis communication, intercultural communication, organizational culture and the change process, and the ethical dimensions of communication. Teaching experience in two major curricular concentrations, public relations and social media, is strongly desired.
The position also involves overseeing the development of curriculum and program evaluation, and mentoring part-time instructors, as well as serving on committees that support the mission of the program and the vision of both the College and the wider University.
The successful candidate must demonstrate outstanding teaching competence (both on-ground and online) with strong student evaluations. Experience teaching at the masters level and proven success in working with international students are desired attributes.
Substantial real-world experience in organizational communication, preferably including management of a communication function within a corporate or nonprofit organization, is required. Candidates should demonstrate an understanding of the latest trends in organizational communication, as evidenced by active involvement in professional associations in the communication field (e.g., IABC, PRSA, etc.) and research interests focusing on communication best practices.
Applicants must have an earned doctorate in organizational communication, public relations, or a related field. Candidates who are currently pursuing a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in a communication-related discipline will be considered.
The position requires teaching evening courses on the Northeastern University Boston campus.
