Carries-out routine special assignments or projects in addition to performing clerical responsibilities.Program Assistant positions may vary widely in the specific responsibilities performed, as much of the work is project-based and specific to the individual department or study.The incumbent works under general supervision. Uses judgment in carrying-out routine responsibilities within the framework of department/study policies and procedures.Assist supervisor in the daily implementation of department/study policies and procedures.Carry-out routine special assignments or projects. Serve as a department/study liaison, referring non-routine issues to supervisor.Gather information and produce reports on department/study performance as requested for supervisor's review.Make updates to program policies and procedures manual.Make accurate and complete postings to department/study records and maintain files and filing system in accordance with policies and procedures.Perform clerical duties to include: drafting and word processing correspondence and reports, proofreading materials, data entry, photocopying, scheduling appointments, organizing meetings.Perform related duties as assigned.High school graduation or GED.Minimum of one year experience in program specialty or a related field.Bachelor's degree and/or special skills may be required based on departmental needs.Skills necessary generally will include: organizational skills, general office skills (i.e. typing, filing, phone skills), word processing/computer skills, and written and oral communication skills.
