Careers Start Here.Responsible for projects that will help the Center meet its financial, business and strategic goals and improve performance and cost management.The incumbent works with minimal supervision and is expected to use initiative and sound judgment in carrying out responsibilities within the framework of departmental policies and procedures.Provide analytical services and solutions to the Center's decision making process and performance management.Analyze data and provide solutions/recommendations in response to anticipated/unanticipated fluctuations in the Center's business affairs.Analyze data to determine appropriate course of action and present findings. Efficiently create complex documents and/or reports using spreadsheet and/or database software and analyze such data to determine the appropriate course of action.Gather data, analyze information, develop conclusions, communicate recommendations clearly and work effectively with others on a team; effectively translate complex data and analyses to all levels within the organization.Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes and effectively accomplish assigned duties/tasks by coordinating work of teammates and other end users.Perform statistical analysis, analyze trends, and develop complex reports, tables, graphs and other supporting documentation.Present financial information in a manner that provides new insight and supports strategic decision making.Complete analyses in all aspects of the Center's business to help management understand and answer critical business issues and questions. Support Facilities, Information Technology, Human Resources and Research Administration with projects and needs as they arise.Support business improvement opportunities, develop high-level solution, receive buy-in from affected departments and lead solution development and implementation project.Participate in budget planning meetings and analysis of historical trends to prepare budget targets for divisions and departments.Assist in the preparation of financial analyses for prospective capital projects. This will include multi-year projections and 'what-if' scenarios and capital replacement planning.Perform quality control checks on new or revised database processes and conduct peer review of analysis by other finance department personnel for accuracy and clarity of presentation.Assist the Finance department in the monthly budget to actual reporting and year-end summary analysis and trend reporting to senior management and investigation and analysis of significant variances at a department and project level.Develop a thorough understanding of PeopleSoft Query, nVision and Smartview-Hyperion reporting tools and the ability to create new reports for the Finance department and other end-users.Perform other financial analysis and one-off projects as assigned.Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required. MBA preferred.Minimum of five years of relevant experience including financial planning and analysis and/or budgeting, preferably in a research or not-for-profit environment.Ability to develop and perform complex calculations in MicroSoft Excel and Access.Prior experience with multidimensional database technologies; strong working knowledge of relational databases.Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to understand complex problems, to collaborate and explore alternative solutions. Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology.Ability to work independently on multiple projects and communicate status of projects to key decision makers on a proactive basis.Exposure to grant accounting or project cost accounting a plus.PeopleSoft/Oracle experience a plus.
