The Director of Events is a full-time position responsible for all aspects of Troy Chamber of Commerce events and meetings, including sponsorship acquisition, logistics, registrations, and vendor/facilities relations.
Individual must be self-motivated, results-oriented with a positive outlook and a clear focus on high quality customer support; possess excellent time management skills; credible and comfortable dealing with a broad spectrum of business industries and people.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•All aspects of sponsorship acquisitions. Strategize with companies to develop sponsorship packages that meet their marketing goals. •Managing logistics and all aspects of the Chamber’s ongoing and special events as well as creating new and relevant events.
•Manage logistics of miscellaneous Chamber meetings including, but not limited to, annual meeting, board of directors’ meetings and meetings scheduled by Chamber President/CEO.
•Recruit and secure speakers for Chamber events being aware of timeliness, audience appeal and budget.
•Recruit volunteers when needed.
•Act as liaison to certain committees including: golf outing and Women’s Business Forum.
•Attend and be actively involved in appropriate Troy Chamber of Commerce events, programs including weekly staff meetings.
•Other duties, responsibilities and activities as assigned by President/CEO.
Events planning experience (minimum three to five years) is required. Previous chamber or nonprofit experience preferred; demonstrated success identifying and closing new sponsors; demonstrated ability to meet and exceed assigned revenue objectives; excellent presentation skills, both verbal and written; excellent face-to-face and telephone communication skills; strong demonstrated customer relationship and selling skills; strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office, and member management database systems. Ability to work a flexible schedule and attend Chamber events before or after regularly scheduled business hours.
Tasks involve the ability to exert moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-25 pounds).
